I need you.

I’m sure some of you have those friends who are always around when there is a fun event, engagement, party, baby shower..they are there with bells on. Ready to rock and roll. I appreciate these people, they share joy like no one else.

But it’s not until your down in the dumps that you realize how important it is to have friends and family who are not JUST there during the fun times.

These past 4 days have been full of low points.. headache, fever, mouth sores, shivers, freezing, boiling, can’t swallow…ugly, ugly low points.

If I took a picture of myself (which should have been illegal and would really scare you) I would have been unrecognizable. Sweaty head, broken out face, pale, slow, achy, no sleep. This is where the saying “tore up from the floor up” really holds weight people.

Telling others I need them is very difficult for me. I want to show the world that I’m Independent and wait for no one!!

So when my Momma in law asked me if she could feed Reese for me in the middle of the night..I fought it. I literally said “no” twice. Then said yes. Leaning.

My hub told me to wake him up when Reese did so he could feed her. I almost fed her myself, then decided to lean into him. Let him help me.

When my Mom asked me if I wanted her to come back the next day to help with Reese, I told her I would text her if I needed her. I realized I was trying to pull of my “got it all together” self..so I texted her and asked her to come by.

My brother was willing to sacrifice his morning and afternoon to sit with me and I resisted. Finally gave in, and we slouched on the brown leather couches together and watched the Olympics. This whole leaning on others is not so bad.

This week was a great reminder to BE PRESENT when the going gets tough, not just when it’s easy. Go out of your way to help your friends/family when they need your help. When they are sick, lonely, sad, or just need some homemade chocolate chip cookies brought to their doorstep. It really means the world.
